Segnaliamo una posizione di post-dottorato al Politecnico di Torino, del Cloud and Precipitation Radar Group:

PostDoc in Cloud and precipitation space mission end-to-end simulations for Global Strom Resolving Model validation (Expression of interest).

Are you a PhD holder willing to pursue a career in cloud and precipitation remote sensing? Would you like to contribute to the development of Earth observation missions carrying microwave sensors focused at improving the representation of clouds and precipitation in numerical weather and climate prediction?

Within this theme the Politecnico di Torino in Turin, Italy is seeking applications for a two-year postdoctoral  position (with net salary up to 2360 €/month, depending on experience) and/or is keen to support candidates for the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships 2022 call (https://www.researchers.polito.it/en/funds_training/projects_and_strategic_initiatives_at_politecnico/msca_postdoctoral_fellowships_2022_call_polito).

Main responsibilities:

* Develop metrics for evaluation of Global Storm Resolving Models
via active and passive microwave observations;
  * Refine end to end simulators for spaceborne
Doppler/multi-frequency/scanning radars (see example in
https://doi.org/10.5194/amt-15-3011-2022) and interface them with Global
Storm Resolving Models outputs;
  * Run radar and radiometer forward models for Global Storm Resolving
Models outputs on regional and annual scales;
  * Statistically compare metrics for different Global Storm
Resolving Models;
  *   Leadership in paper writing;
  * Contribution in ESA reports and ATBDs.

  * Experience in at least one of the following: remote sensing, radar
signal processing and radar theory, space mission design, satellite data
analysis, inversion algorithms, hydrometeor scattering calculations,
cloud resolving models.
